Who can believe that 2015 is several weeks old already? As a particularly dark and dismal January approaches its end, SVM are very much back into the old routine and working hard on many new and existing projects for the coming year.

Christmas presents this year included new survey works in Nelson Mandela Place in Glasgow City Centre and a renewal of our involvement with a large scale hotel refurbishment in the same area. As well as these, we have also been asked to look at several new Railway and construction/MOD schemes of differing sizes in various diverse locations such as Elgin, Hamilton, Wilmslow and Applecross plus further tunnel lighting works.

The biggest project first footing us this year is the continuing design of an oil related manufacturing development at Heartlands while other large scale works that have been quick off the bat this year are the long running PARR project and extensive works for Scottish Borders Rail. Projects still ongoing in the background include the continuing refurbishment works for the Glasgow subways, the retail spaces at Haymarket station and several railway sites across Lincolnshire. In Glasgow City Centre we have continued our involvement with a prominent office building, a local café and survey works at Royal Exchange Square while 3D drawings for education suites across the country are still in production.

We would like to wish a Happy New Year to all of our clients and hope that it is safe and prosperous for one and all. We would also like to introduce a new face to the SVM office for 2015 with Jonathan Wenban taking up the post of trainee electrical engineer. We are sure he will bring much to the role and we look forward to welcoming him to the SVM team. The 2015 recruitment drive is about to be launched with experienced mechanical and electrical design engineers interest and CVs being sought – it could be your name here next month!
