Happy New Year and welcome back to all our clients, collaborators and colleagues who managed to survive the festive season. While the holidays are now a fading memory, everyone at SVM is recharged and eager to tackle whatever 2017 has in store and it is already looking busy!
Some early bird projects for 2017 are Railway earthing and bonding design at additional sites and some new design concerning multiple station car parks while, away from the Railway, we have been asked by a new client to look at some electrical works in Glasgow’s trendy West End. There is a lot in the pipeline for 2017 with large scale railway projects in the borders and South of England due to start in the coming months and these, along with our ongoing extensive works for Aberdeen and Inverness Depots, the HEP project and the ECML Junction Supplies should keep us busy well into the summer.
Other projects still in progress this month include various small scale non-complex designs around the station and works at the signalling centre for Edinburgh Waverley. Also partly incorporating Edinburgh Waverley is the EGIP project and the various elements with which we are involved are all progressing well. Design works for Dundee Station are now well underway as are those at Partick Interchange and a Glasgow stabling shed. Motherwell North Signalling Renewals, Slateford Depot and Polmadie and Rutherglen Renewals are still very much with us while design has begun on a project in the London area following completion of the surveys in December. Our new project involving lighting renewals at railway sites in the South of England is just on the verge of getting underway while small scale works involving LED lighting, earthing and bonding and external lighting at various Railway locations are ongoing. In the commercial sector we are beginning the year by providing design advice for one of the larger football stadiums and covering queries following our survey report on an English freight port. We are still involved at a site in Carlisle following flood damage and, of course, we continue to undertake CAD 3D modelling services for various schools across the country.
While we are welcoming 2017 this month, we are also welcoming Gurpreet Sidhu, who has taken up the position of Graduate Electrical Engineer this week. We are glad to have him as part of the team and hope he enjoys and learns from his time at SVM. So we are all geared up and ready to tackle another year, we hope that all of our clients, colleagues and collaborators are also ready to meet 2017 head on. Ready, set, go!
