June has been a busy month in the SVM office. We’ve begun the holiday season, issued many design deliverables on multiple projects and had our annual visit from the Achilles auditor. Luckily we are always happy to be kept on our toes!

This month we have been looking carefully at new projects to expand our portfolio and have put together prices for works as far apart as Merstham, South of London and Laurencekirk near Aberdeen. We were also pleased this month to have been approached to undertake further works on sites where we have a long and successful history such as Queen St Station and one of the busy Glasgow rail depots.

Large projects that have been continuing to keep us busy in June have been our old friends, the oil related manufacturing development at Heartlands, the successful Scottish Borders Rail project (which ran its first train on Sunday 7th June) and continuing works at some of Scotland’s busiest signalling centres. We are continuing to undertake design works at railway sites in Stirling, Elgin, Blairhill and Aberdeen while proceeding with lighting design at another busy depot location. Our long running project at rail sites across Lincolnshire has moved forward this month and Motherwell North Signalling Renewal works are well underway. Smaller, but no less important, projects with the railway this month include a level crossing light installation; further tunnel lighting works and a new railway scheme close to Paisley St James. When we are looking for a little break from the Railway we have plenty to choose from with works still ongoing for a fault analysis case in the Fraserburgh area and surveys being undertaken for multiple higher education facilities. We are continuing to look at a car showroom in Darnley (which follows completion and recent opening of Hamilton Audi in mid June), a hotel in Stirlingshire and several varied sites in Glasgow City Centre including office buildings, a hotel and commercial premises.

June has been a busy month away from the projects as well as we received our annual RISQS audit from Achilles; which we are pleased to announce was passed with an excellent four star score. We also welcomed Andrew Thomson into our ranks in June who will be undertaking a summer placement with us over the next few months. We hope that he enjoys his time at SVM and welcome him to the team.
