March madness has descended on SVM once again with the financial year that’s drawing to a close having been a successful and healthy one. We’re certainly not resting on our laurels, however, as we have plenty to keep us extremely busy into the new period from 2016-2017. Time flies when you’re having fun!
New works blowing in on a Spring breeze include surveys of various station underpass locations; further AFA works at Scottish stations; design works related to REBs and PSPs at several sites across the country and some Railway external lighting design in the Northernmost parts of the country – for when the Northern Lights just aren’t bright enough! In the commercial sector we have been asked to look at further CAD 3D modelling for an education suite and surveys on behalf of the local authority in the North of England. As well as these we have also submitted several fees and tenders this month, all of which should set us up for a great start to the new financial year.
Ongoing projects keeping us busy in March include the major railway works associated with EGIP and Queen Street Station refurbishment. Station gateline installation works are progressing as are ‘Access for All’ works at various Railway locations. Design works for LED replacements at stations across the central belt are well underway while depot works in Perth are reaching the submission stage. Works for PARR and Motherwell North Signalling Renewals are rolling along and various small boiler replacement and lighting works are still popping up. On the Glasgow subways we are continuing steadily with site supervision and snagging duties while we are waiting with bated breath for the beginning of works at Partick Interchange. In the non-railway world we are still involved at hotel sites in Glasgow, the Lake District and Taynuilt; a leather manufacturing plant and the offices in our neighbouring area – which is currently seeing an exciting level of regeneration.
March has seen some comings and goings in the SVM office as Jonathan has left us for pastures new with all our best wishes for the future. We are, however, pleased to welcome Liam Miller to the office as he takes up the role of Senior CAD Technician. We are sure that he will be an excellent addition to an already strong team. Our revamped website is also still in the works and should be going live very soon. We hope that you can all surf over and have a look!
