John Burns – Assistant Electrical Engineer

John achieved an HNC in electrical engineering and worked as an electrician before joining SVM as an assistant electrical engineer. He is currently studying towards his BEng in Electrical Power Engineering at Glasgow Caledonian University while still continuing his employment and is already proven to be an excellent addition to the team.

Elise McLean – Office Manager

Elise gained an MA (Hons) at Glasgow University in 2005 and joined SVM in 2007 as Office Administrator, becoming office manager in 2009 following the company change of ownership. Elise is SVM’s first point of contact and is responsible for all administrative tasks including the day to day running of the office and offering any necessary support to the engineers. Outside the office Elise is involved in amateur dramatics and often treads the boards in musicals and plays.

Luke Lamont – Assistant Electrical Engineer

Luke enters the industry with SVM Glasgow further to achieving his BSc Building Services at Glasgow Caledonian University. Luke joined SVM in February 2012 as trainee electrical engineer offering support to the engineers and furthering his own knowledge in the field.

Ben Reid – Mechanical Engineer

Ben has a background in the oil and gas industry following the completion of his BEng in Architectural Engineering in 2012. He has made the transition to SVM seamlessly and has already become a great asset to the SVM team.

Jamie Taylor – Senior Electrical Engineer

Jamie began his career as an installation electrician working on offices and other commercial properties while gaining an HNC and HND in electrical engineering. Jamie undertook the role of Assistant Electrical Engineer at SVM Glasgow in May 2010 offering skilled support to the engineers across all projects. Jamie obtained a BEng from Glasgow Caledonian University and recently achieved the position of Senior Electrical Engineer. He spends his time outwith the office enjoying football and music.

Craig Thomas – Director

Craig has been Director of SVM Glasgow since it became independent from SVM Consulting Engineers in April 2009. Craig joined SVM in 2001 during SVM’s involvement in the prestigious Playfair Project (RSA) in Edinburgh. With over 20 years experience in building services Craig has experience in all sectors of the industry including railway, commercial, industrial, residential and is an experienced project manager. When not in the office Craig is to be found on his motorbike, often taking part in long haul journeys as far afield as Italy and Slovenia.

Jim Weston – CAD Technician

Jim is a newcomer to engineering as he takes up his position at SVM Glasgow. Having recently graduated from Glasgow Caledonian University with a BSc in Computer Games (Design) he is now looking to use his skills and experience in the building services industry by turning his hand to CAD, Revit and 3D modelling. Jim is the office BIM champion and a keen convert to the engineering industry.
