The party season is already beginning as we head into the Christmas countdown but before we start opening the advent calendar there are plenty of exciting projects still to be gift wrapped for our clients this month.
There have been several new tender prices submitted this month including further LED replacement works on several railway stations across Scotland; some more station gatelines installation design; additional ‘access for all works’ at some major Scottish station locations; works associated with the stabling shed at a busy railway depot and design at three sites in the South of England. We have also begun to look at earthing and bonding works at a Glasgow railway site and, away from the railway, two commercial premises which require design advice; all of which signal a very bright start to 2016.
Ongoing projects keeping us warm this winter include continuing ‘access for all works’ in the central belt; the large scale EGIP project working to link Glasgow and Edinburgh; signalling renewals for Motherwell North and the most recent phase of the PARR project being undertaken at Polmadie and Rutherglen. Another major project that is gathering speed this month involves surveys at a major railway depot and, slowing down, are works on PSPs and UPSs at various railway sites as they are close to completion. Design works at an important signalling centre and external lighting works at a railway depot are ongoing while refurbishment at some of the Glasgow Subway’s stations is progressing nicely. Non railway projects are also doing well this month with the oil related manufacturing development at Heartlands edging ever closer to completion and several small projects thriving as more of our neighbouring office buildings are being redeveloped. Works at commercial premises in the North of Glasgow are drawing to a close and 3D modelling on various education suites is still being carried out by our CAD specialist.
This month SVM were present at the very successful IRSE dinner and we were delighted to welcome some clients and colleagues to our table for an excellent evening. We were also represented at Network Rail’s very popular Railhouse Rock event which does sterling work for charity every year and provides a great night’s entertainment. If these great events sound like fun then perhaps there is a seat for you at the next one? SVM are still looking for new senior personnel so if you are a senior electrical or mechanical engineer with consultancy experience then we would love to hear from you. Contact Elise Mclean (email@example.com) with your CV and you could be celebrating Christmas at SVM!
