Haymarket Station, Edinburgh
Dates: 2011-2015
Client: Halcrow, ScotRail. Morgan Sindall
Winner of a Saltire Award, the full redevelopment of Edinburgh’s Haymarket Station was a high profile endeavour with which SVM are very proud to have been involved. Our scope covered provision of outline and detailed M&E design for the proposed capacity improvements within the station, including the refurbishment of an existing listed building; creation of mixed use passenger space in the extension to the station; a new footbridge, concourse, travel centre and café unit with ground level car parking. The design comprised a series of low carbon initiatives including water conservation measures; mixed use ventilation with heat recovery built into air handling units; air source heat pumps; high efficiency lighting and presence detection. Due to the complex nature of the project, liaison and co-ordination with other design team members was required throughout all design stages.
