January News!

Happy New Year and welcome back to all our clients, collaborators and colleagues who have managed to survive the festive season.  While the holidays are now a fading memory, everyone at SVM is recharged and eager to tackle whatever 2019 has in store and it is already looking busy!

New projects for the New Year this January include further CP6 station buildings design works at a Glasgow Railway site; multiple additional works at a Glasgow Rail Depot with which we are already very familiar; LED lighting a low level Glasgow station and some feeder design in the Carstairs area.  Further afield this month we have also become involved with detailed design at a Railway property in Birmingham and, more unusually, services design for a landfill site in Stornoway!

Works staying with us into 2019 are headed up by various projects associated with the Highland Mainline extension programme, including the new HEP East works; works for the London to Corby route which heads Northwards from London; various design elements at a Glasgow Rail Depot; CP6 station building upgrades; and the Stirling, Dunblane and Alloa works, with which we are also involved in several capacities.  Containment survey works for Glasgow’s subway stations continue to progress healthily as do works around a major London Station and CIS design at multiple Scottish Stations.  South of the border in January we continue to be involved in station works near Doncaster; railway locations on the Huddersfield to Bradford Route; and design for a swing bridge at Goole, which has made good progress in January.  Major stations across Scotland are all receiving the SVM treatment with varied works including lighting design, platform extension, retail supplies and building services continuing at Waverley, Glasgow Central, Dundee, Aberdeen, Westerton, Ayr and Hillington West.  Design works at a train yard in the Elgin area are gaining momentum this month while AFA works and design for EV charging points continue to make their presence felt.  As well as stations we are also heavily involved in several depots across the country, notably in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen, with a slew of works including mast lighting, potable water supplies, fuel road and fuelling apron design, roof works, modular accommodation, shore supplies, drainage works, LV testing, HST servicing, sump pumps, protection and air compressors.  In the non-railway camp we are still involved with Glasgow Clyde Barriers, some lighting design for a Glasgow city centre office; and CAD 3D models for education suites.

2019 is all set to be an exciting year as it marks 10 years since SVM independence in Glasgow – which is a marvellous achievement and there are sure to be some celebrations along the way.  If you would like to be a part of this exciting and dynamic team for the next ten years then get your CV to Elise McLean, elise.mclean@svm-glasgow.co.uk.  And do it soon – because those years fly by!
